Shoulder exercises for shoulder pain

The shoulder is a predominantly muscular joint. Disturbances in muscular balance have a particularly negative impact here. However, many diseases, such as shoulder arthritis, also cause considerably more discomfort when muscles are weak or imbalanced than when the muscles are functioning well.

Muscle imbalances or protective postures associated with pain often lead to capsule shortening.
Often, these slight limitations in mobility go unnoticed by the affected individual. However, since they repeatedly lead to decentration of the humeral head during various movements, they can trigger symptoms. It is not uncommon for tendons and bursae to be repeatedly compressed simply by moving the joint, even without significant misalignment or deformity.

Properly performed shoulder exercises can help heal many shoulder problems and significantly alleviate symptoms in chronic conditions such as joint wear.

Shoulder exercises are not rocket science!

Most exercises can be easily performed at home. Recent studies in the US have clearly demonstrated that, with proper guidance, shoulder exercises can be effective for many shoulder conditions. The exercises can generally be performed easily at home. It's important to do the exercises regularly, ideally more than four times a week.

Current studies show that the goal of any exercise program must always be to restore normal mobility. We have created a short instructional video for this purpose. The exercises are very simple and are best performed twice a day for approximately 15 minutes.

Equipment and Aids for Shoulder Exercises

When looking for suitable aids for shoulder exercises, the market now offers a wide selection. As always, not everything is unconditionally recommended.

Therapy recommendations from the USA usually use the simplest aids to perform the exercises, such as rubber bands of various strengths, broom handles, water bottles, or a rope. A very comprehensive and effective exercise program can be performed with the simplest household items.

In my opinion, expensive aids that only train one movement are unnecessary, as this does not correspond to the concept of a comprehensive exercise program.
